Northwestern Mutual Foundation donates $15,000 to the Samaritan Center as part of the company's 2020 Community Impact Award program

Peter has been involved with the Samaritan Center over the past ten years, as both a volunteer and in serving on the Board twice from 2015 to 2017, and from 2018 to present.  He regularly brings a group of Northwestern Mutual advisors and their staff down to the Center to help serve dinner.  It is a wonderful group experience as we get a chance to serve some of the most needy in the Syracuse community.  The Samaritan Center provides two homecooked meals per day, every day, 365 days per year.  Last year, they served over 140,000 meals to individuals and families without any preconditions – all are welcome to come and dine in their recently renovated facility in downtown Syracuse, which is a 167 year old former Catholic Cathedral.  Syracuse has one of the highest poverty rates in the United States and the Samaritan Center is meeting that need on a daily basis.  With the $15,000 Community Impact Award, the Samaritan Center will use the grant to upgrade their technology in three areas – upgrade their website, replace outdated hardware and acquire donor management software.
